The Power of Modern Technology

‘Technology’ as stated in the dictionary means application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in the industry through a machine or device.
We all know that technology has brought in advancement and progress to human civilization; has made things easy, quicker and much more accessible. And the power of this is its speed and influence on us!
From computers to mobile devices, the power of transmission of information to other means and across the globe is phenomenal. The power on a ‘click’ or a ‘button’, the whole idea generation along with the entire creative process, operated by manpower and supply of energy is just incredible.
The dependency on technology has made man lazy and succumb to visual pleasures rather than indulge in face-to-face expressive conversations and formal polite language.
We feel the world is changing, things around us are evolving, market and consumerism is dynamic, the greed of more and more emerges from the seed of ‘the spirit of lack’.
Looking at the pros and cons of technology and its usage, we believe we can rule the world, creation and bring under a control of whole of things we wish to acquire.
Masses are being led and are mere followers of the trap called ‘technology’. Victims are more vulnerable and paranoid with the fact of what creates also destroys. Technology is a man-made invention, but we tend to worship the invention and it becomes the ‘god of our lives’. We are so surrounded by life without
technology just like life without oxygen. We eat, sleep and breathe ‘technology’; our fears are ‘battery down’, ‘page loading’ and ‘slow internet’.
Washing dirty linen in public and the enjoyment of sharing the misery of the world is a misuse of
technology. Information that is healthy is less shared and more of controversies make it to the front pages of our daily headlines. Are we aware of the necessities of using this technology or just playing with it and taking it for granted? Socialising has become a trend online, and we don’t mind spending the time, money and energy on it. Time has come we realise the importance of technology in our lives, it brings in great
satisfaction to connect faster and easier without taking much time and to meet our old folks.
The transmission of information has to be right, the time we utilise as the input, we have to benefit from the output. If feed in garbage, we ought to get the same out. Technology is like a pet, it has to be tamed to function well, it’s so intricate and it has a good memory to keep a track of what we information we seek.
The result is the cause our right or wrong doings…A pet has to fed and cared for, similarly technology has to be used well to our advantage, repaired and cleaned when required, fed with information, not overfed, not over pampered, and recycle and trash what is not worth.
The world is empowered, and so is the word. Language and cultures have changed drastically, way of
thinking and viewing things differently is the new age media. This brings a revolution to our minds and at every age and generation, it sparks a though and creates trendsetters for the world to follow. The new age is leading this world, morality takes a back seat and all things under the sun are fine so long as others are not affected or suffer.
Nonetheless, it reduces effort of counselling and experienced advice, it builds on to exceeding expectations and transcending boundaries of how far can this technology take us. We don’t measure this as success like before but more as a path-breaking influential idea that drives many followers and consumers of
technology. The roads to freedom were won by our revolutionary leaders who walked, rebelled and brought peace and justice to this nation, but it’s not the case now. Technology is an effective tool to just write about these and create a marketing ‘buzz’ through media coverage and wealthy sponsors of so-called events and reality shows.
However, we do not have any such role to be pioneers of any movement but it’s a stage for recognition and attracts unwanted publicity. It has the power to lead and be led by movements involving the major chunk-‘youth’ across the world. Technology has westernised our traditional Indian values and upbringing, so called ‘modernised’ and ‘trendy’ – in fashion of flaunting our lives in public. It’s all about self-realisation friends, we have reached the peak of Maslow’s pyramid and high time to contemplate the way minds behind this ‘technology’ is driving us. The power of modern technology reigns supreme, the wings have spread and infected us all, let it bring the light of peace and not destruction.
